He is seriously the most beautiful baby boy I have ever seen. I’m really not supposed to post photos, but in 6 months when this adoption is final, I will be posting a photo overload.
Baby 19 has a name now: Keaton Lawrence. Lawrence is my father’s name, so we knew that was going to be his middle name. We went back and forth with first names: Austin Lawrence… Samuel Lawrence… Benjamin Lawrence… we couldn’t agree on any.
Then Wylee suggested Keaton. Hmmm…. Keaton. I’ve never known anyone named Keaton before. It’s not trendy or popular, but it’s not hard to pronounce or unusually spelled, either (these were our requirements when first starting the Name Game). But I resisted for awhile; the name wasn’t perfect. I like names that you can do something with: Daniel and call him Dan, William and call him Will, stuff like that. You can’t really do that with Keaton, unless I guess you want to call him Keat. I was also disappointed that you would never be able to find personalized stuff for him. When the AC and the other kids have their personalized pencils and key chains and such, Keaton will have to satisfied with his regular yellow #2 pencils. I suppose I can order any of that stuff online, so that’s kind of a silly complaint.
Anyway, the more I looked at him, the more he looked like a Keaton. I tested it out on Friday: Do you need a bottle, Keaton? Is Daddy holding you, Keaton? AC, can you please bring Mommy a diaper for Keaton? The more I said it, the more I liked it. When we took him to my Dad’s house yesterday for the unveiling, he was introduced as Keaton Lawrence (more about the big unveiling later-- I’m running short on time now).
I asked Wylee how he came up with name, and he really didn’t have an answer. He said it just came to him. Well, that’s not going to make a very good story. What’s going to happen when he’s in the 5th grade and has to write a paper on how he was named?
“Oh, who cares?” Wylee answered. “I’m sure you can help him make up a good a good story. If nothing else, he can say that his parents were fans of a certain bad actor who played Batman.”
Well, Mr. Mom is one of my favorite movies….

That is a really cool name! And it is a great story to be named by a sibling! We did the same thing. Enjoy the little guy! Congrads again!
Congratulations! Keaton is a great name!
I was a victim of yellow #2 pencils and no personalized license plate on my bike. My name is pretty common, but my mom screwed up the spelling. No permanent damage though, so I think Keaton will be okay :)
Congrats to you all! And what a great name =)
Keaton is a different name, but I love it.
Can't wait to hear how all of this happened! And so fast!
Hi! Thanks so much for the welcome from SITS. One of my good friends has a Keaton. It is a great name.
Thanks for the welcome from SITS. Drop by anytime. By the way I think the name Keaton is really nice choice. Congratulations!
So excited for you all. I love his name!
I think the whole problem was in the title of your blog...looks like you should have been in search of #19 instead of #4 :)
Seriously, congratulations on your new baby boy. Keaton is an awesome name!

excellent! some names just happen that way ... "kea" (pronounced key) might be fun?
no matter what, HE will be loads of fun!! so very happy for you all ....
we know a Keaton - smart kid! I love the name. If it makes you feel better, our youngest is Bennett -- no personalized stuff for him, either.
I love the name! Oh, and I hear you about getting the personalized stuff! I can always find stuff for Abigail, but NEVER for Eden! We just order stuff online . . . them Eden gets her personalize towels, robes, etc.
:) It words! :)
You are lucky to have a husband that will suggest serious names. I love talking about baby names, whether I personally need one or not, but Glenn prefers adding names like "Lazlo" or "Sally" to the mix. It's a wonder our children ever ended up with normal names. I like Keaton--I like last names as first names!
I was just thinking...have you thought up a cool blog name for Keaton?
Maybe Sleepy (as in the dwarf) or
Batman or
the Little Mister (from Mr. Mom-->I know, what a stretch!) or
Keats or ....
